Spiritual Bypass – Are you doing this?

Ok, to start, what is spiritual bypass? We can’t know if we’re doing or not doing something if we don’t know what it is! Before I put my spin on it, here’s what Wiki told me.. “A spiritual bypass or spiritual bypassing is a “tendency to use spiritual ideas and practices to sidestep or avoid facing unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds, and unfinished developmental tasks”. The term was introduced in the early 1980s by John Welwood, a Buddhist teacher and psychotherapist” Thank you, Wiki. Amd John Welwood. How does spiritual bypass present itself in my world as an Intuitive Coach? Mostly through the ego. Do you know someone who thinks they have it all handled and that they’re “above” this stuff? That emotions are for wimps? That you just need to snap out of it and suck it up? I had a client work with me once to essentially prove to herself that I was wrong and her way of seeing the world was right; i.e. that the rational mind trumps the intuition. Do you know yourself as love?

So many people feel separate from love. What if I told you that you ARE love already so you can never be separate from it? How would you start showing up, if you knew yourself as love? When you start to tune in intuitively you can see clearly that people are in varying degrees of fear or love. Does fear keep you from being open in love? Fear is contraction, and love is expansion. So the key then, is to be in love, all the time.
